Peripheral Visions.

Photographs by John Jenkins III.
Decode Books, Seattle, 2008. 64 pp., 26 color illustrations..

Publisher's Description
The lush color photographs of John Jenkins III freeze the moments that often happen in the corner of one's eye in peripheral vision. By using selective focus, Jenkins captures the color and light of a fleeting moment, the fuzzy areas of shadow and light that move just outside our direct vision. While the collection of photographs in Peripheral Visions are of the familiar and the everyday, these images show what is happening on the edges of the known and become impressions, moments of time and place, meditations of dreams and memories.

John Jenkins III was the recipient of the Juror's Award at the 1998 and 2000 Pacific Northwest Annual, Bellevue Art Museum, Bellevue, WA and a Juror's Award recipient at the 2003 Current Works in Kansas City, MO. His work was included in the 1999 Northwest Biennial, Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma, WA (Fred Wilson, juror). His work is in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, TX; the Seattle Art Museum, Seattle, WA; the Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma, WA; and the Microsoft Corporation, among others. Jenkins has exhibited throughout the United States.
