Known for his spontaneously made, incredibly energetic, black-and-white street photography, Garry Winogrand was one of the most influential photographers of the twentieth century. What is lesser known is that Winogrand also took more than 45,000 color slides over a period of nearly two decades, as he rarely printed them.

Working with the Winogrand Archive at the Center for Creative Photography, Twin Palms Publishers and the Winogrand Estate have produced a breathtaking, well-edited compilation of this important color work. Garry Winogrand: Color is edited by former Museum of Modern Art curator, Susan Kismari, along with the great American film director, Michael Almereyda.
