Photographs by Rudolf Koppitz. Texts by Jo-Anne Conklin, Monika Faber, and Peter Weiermair.
University of Iowa Museum of Art, 1996. 127 pp., 142 black-and-white illustrations, 9¼x11¼".

In the first third of this century, Rudolf Koppitz made his mark on photography in Eastern Europe, with an extraordinary Pictorial aesthetic. From Art Nouveau portraits to Symbolist nudes to Naturalistic images of peasant life, his grainy, soft-focus photographs were always masterfully composed and illuminated. This beautiful book also includes some seldom-seen images, such as his photographs taken from a biplane in 1917.
